Chris Fletcher D.V.M. -- I grew up in the coal country of deep Southwest Virginia before moving to Abingdon, Virginia in 1994. In 2002 completed my B.S. from Virginia Tech in animal and poultry science. In 2003, I left for the island of Grenada to attend St. George's University where I completed my doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2007 with my last year completed at Kansas State University. I currently am part owner of Washington County Veterinary Service / Tri-State Veterinary Supply (tristatevetsupply.com). In 2008, my wife and I where married and purchased our first farm.
Mandy Fletcher - I grew up on a small farm in Marion, VA, raising beef cattle and a few horses. In 1997, I became a certified therapeutic riding instructor at A Leg Up in Abingdon, VA. Not long after, I earned my B.S. in Psychology and Special Education from UVA Wise and taught students with special needs for 10 years. For five years I worked as the conservation education specialist at Holston River Soil and Water Conservation District - educating others about protecting and preserving our natural resources (soil, water, air, plants and animals), which are all part of our watershed. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO GOD FOR HIS RICH BLESSINGS THROUGHOUT OUR LIVES!! We are truly "Beyond Blessed" every single day and our goal is to be a blessing to others! |
Our History |
In 2008 we purchased our first 10 commercial Katahdin ewes and 1 registered ram from a local farmer. My...how we have grown since then... at present to over 100 breeding ewes. Since 2011 we have been purchasing breeding rams from the SWAREC Virginia Tech Research Farm's annual parasite resistance ram test, and incorporating these superior genetics into our flock. We are focused on selecting for growth, and parasite resistance with the least amount of inputs. We feel that we have genetics to offer the sheep industry!
